This lot is a 1908 campaign button promoting Samuel W. Smith’s run for a seat in Congress. Born in 1852, Smith was a Michigan attorney and Republican who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1897 to 1915. Known for his role as chair of the Committee on the District of Columbia, he was influential in policies affecting the nation’s capital.

The pin measures approximately 7/8″ in diameter and is quite scarce. NOTE: White areas in the photos are light reflections from the plastic covers. None of the buttons have white areas.
