This lot is a vintage copper pin given to Alma Melching in Rockport, Kentucky to commemorate her participation in Girls’ Week activities in 1929. The front is inscribed with “1929 Girls Week Rockport” and the back is inscribed with “Alma Melching.” The location of Rockport, Kentucky was determined through name research.
“Girls’ Week” in the 1920s was a social and civic event designed to promote the role and potential of young women in society. These events typically included activities, celebrations, and programs aimed at fostering leadership, education, and community involvement among girls. The initiative was part of a broader movement during the early 20th century to advocate for women’s rights and opportunities, as well as to encourage girls to pursue education and personal development.
The pin measures approximately 1″ tall by 1″ wide.
